Stories like this one are very sad and hard to read but the happy ending makes it worth it. A dog had been backed against a wall and buried beneath bushes and branches when the Animal Aid Unlimited organization came to fetch her and take her to live with them.
Before they decided to visit, the rescue team received a call about a dog that had been chased out of a lot by a property security officer but ended up hiding in the small wilderness within the same lot instead.
She had been stuck there ever since, without any food or water, and for two days she waited for help that never would have come if the Animal Aid Unlimited organization had not been called regarding her situation.
Aside from the dog’s apparent weakness, she also seemed timid, and if she felt uncomfortable when they grabbed her and removed her from her hiding spot, she didn’t show it by growling or by being hostile to the rescue team.
By the time they had extracted her from the little hole she had made for herself, she had struggled to navigate her surroundings, and it became clear that the poor dear was completely blind. No amount of rehabilitation was going to bring back her sight — if she ever had it, but she could be trained to rely more on her other senses.
It was going to be a long time before she was ready to do that on her own, however, and in any case, it was decided that she was going to live at the shelter, in a life-long sanctuary. Once they had brought her to the shelter with them, she was given IV fluids to remedy her dehydration, after which she was given plenty of time to rest.
Even after a few days of staying at the shelter, she was still painfully shy, although she never tried to bare her teeth at her carers. It was going to take time before she trusted people again, but at least baby steps are being taken. You can view the accompanying video to this story below:
