I don’t usually report on stories like this, but every once in a while something comes along that is so sad, you just can’t ignore it. I also think it’s a good idea to be reminded every now and then that not all humans value a dog’s life as much as you and I do.
Seeing a sad and disgusting example that proves this fact every so often, helps remind us to keep fighting the good fight for the fur babies out there who are being abused and still need our help.
Luckily, the following story does have a happy ending, but first lets visit how this unfortunately true “tail” came to be. I will warn you ahead of time that what you are about to read is disturbing and incomprehensible, so please prepare yourself.
A mixed breed dog named from the Ukraine named, “True” was caught in the act of digging a hole by his abusive owner. His owner’s punishment was cutting off True’s two front legs. Somehow the poor baby was able to drag himself to the safety of a no doubt shocked bystander that rescued him.
The good samaritan took the dog to a temporary shelter, where word then got out about his situation. Cause 4 Paws, a Canadian rescue organization, heard about True’s misfortune, and stepped in to help. They took the dog in and then matched him with his new “furever” home.
True’s new owner, Erin Blaak, of Ontario, fell in love and took him in. True obviously couldn’t walk when she arrived to her new home, so Erin set out to try and get her new pup some help, and a chance at having a somewhat normal life again.

Blaak set up a GoFundMe page in hopes of raising enough funds to get the dog fitted with prosthetic front legs. Not surprisingly, dog owners from near and far stepped up to the plate and helped raise over $20,000 for the cause!
True was fitted with his new front legs and then began the process of getting use to them and building the necessary muscles to use them. He received physiotherapy which helps to build his strength, and over time will hopefully be running and playing again.
While this story does have a happy ending, let’s not forget how it got there. Nobody wants to hear about or be reminded of stories like this, but they exist nonetheless. Until they cease to exist anymore, and as hard as it may be to hear about them from time to time, they are a good reminder to keep fighting for pup’s in dire situations like True’s.
Evil will probably always exist in this world, and I believe that there is a special place in hell for those that abuse animals. Together though we can make a difference in these poor victims lives. Do whatever little you can to help these unfortunate animals, even if it’s only donating your time in some way.
Please share this story with your friends and family, as more people need to be aware of what kinds of homes some of these rescue dogs come from. The more we can get the word out, the more help they will get.
