Not a day goes by when Animal Aid Unlimited (AAU) does not receive reports about dogs on the street. The situation of each dog varies. Some are still healthy, while others are in need of immediate medical attention. When AAU learned about the stray dog with an enormous tumor, they were quick to act. The dog is a lot better now and she’s had a wonderful transformation!
At the brink of death
The dog was diagnosed with a transmissible venereal tumor. This is a kind of cancer among female and male dogs that are often seen in India. When caught at an earlier time, the cancer can be treated with chemotherapy and medicine. The healing process takes months, and the side effects can be serious.
AAU thought they were already late when they found her. The tumor was already in an advanced state. At that time, it seemed that the only option they had for her was euthanasia. The dog, however, showed them that she’s healthy and she’s willing to fight for her life. The volunteers saw how determined she was so they gave her a chance to live.
Missy’s road to recovery
The volunteers journeyed with Missy to recovery. The treatment for her tumor lasted for four months. On the fifth month, they were so happy to see that there are zero traces of the tumor in her body. It was indeed, a miracle.
Missy also went through quite a transformation. She looks a lot healthier now, and she smiles more. It’s hard to believe that she used to be very thin, with a huge tumor sticking out of her body. Missy never fails to show the volunteers at AAU her gratitude for giving her another chance in life. Watch her incredible journey to recovery here:
