A 4-year-old pit bull in California was seen wandering around in the San Jacinto desert. By the looks of her showing skin and bones, save for the swollen belly that led rescuers to think she was pregnant, they figured that she was starving.
They later discovered in her X-rays that her bloated stomach was because of all the rocks that she had been ingesting. She was named Rocky by the rescuers, and the days are about to get brighter for her.
Rocky underwent surgery to rid her of the rocks inside her. But despite her healing from this, she was still in need of a home. In the few months that followed while she looked for someone to take her in, she was placed in boarding and foster homes. At last, Luvable Dog Rescue which is located in Eugene, Oregon, stepped up to take Rocky into its shelter after hearing her tale.
Upon her arrival at Luvable, Rocky swiftly became everybody’s favorite. Liesl Wilhardt, Luvable’s founder and executive director, shared that Rocky was wonderful to everyone in the shelter from the moment she arrived.
The longer she stayed at the sanctuary, the more Rocky’s personality blossomed. Wilhardt shared how she made a lot of silly noises especially when she was happy.
Despite being well-loved by all of the staff, Rocky still hasn’t found her forever home even after several months because of her troublemaking ways around other dogs. She seemed to get overly excited that she couldn’t control herself sometimes.
It was not until a year later that Rocky found her forever home. Rich and Diane Carey thought Rocky was a perfect fit for their family. Rocky, now known as Roxi, loves spending time playing tug-of-war and chasing sprinklers with her new brother Hank.
