Dogs are incredibly loyal creatures especially if they receive love and affection from their owners. They’re very protective and will defend their owners no matter the cost. However, there are times when dogs get confused and don’t recognize their owners. They become cautious and even avoid them. This happened to a man in North Carolina.
Shane Godfrey, a resident of Sanford City, NC, suffered from a bad case of flu. It was so severe that Shane stayed in the hospital for five weeks. When he finally recovered, discharged from the hospital, and came home, he sat outside his yard. The flu was so bad that Shane lost a total of fifty pounds. You can imagine how different he looked.
Because of this, his dog, Willie, didn’t recognize him. Willie was anxious and very cautious at the seemingly strange person sitting in his family’s yard. He even started barking at Shane at one point. Shane patiently waited for Willie to come near him. As Willie came over, still cautious, he took a sniff at Shane and instantly recognized his dad.
It didn’t even take a second after sniffing Shane that Willie showed his excitement and started jumping on Shane trying to lick his face. Willie acted like a little child who gets excited after getting reunited with their parents after a long absence.
It’s amazing to see dogs acting this way towards their owners. The loyalty and love that dogs show towards their loving owners is something special. If we give our dogs love and affection, you will find that they will return this to you tenfold.
They love unconditionally and love their owners throughout their life. So, take care of your dogs. Love them, play with them, and give them a little of your time and attention. You’ll see that it’s well worth it. Here’s a video of Shane just coming back from the hospital meeting Willie after a long absence.
